Budget-aware picks

Ethical products by price

Sustainability shouldn't be a luxury. Pick a budget — we'll show the highest-scoring ethical products in that tier, across all 20 categories we cover.

How we think about value

Cost per use, not sticker price

A $90 pan used daily for eight years costs less than three $30 pans. Our Value pillar models lifespan, not just price.

Refills beat repurchases

Concentrates and refill systems routinely cut both spend and packaging by more than half over a year.

Repairability is a discount

Products with spare parts and honest warranties score higher because replacement is the biggest hidden cost.

Frequently asked about budget picks

Are cheaper ethical products worse?+

Not automatically. Price mostly tracks materials and manufacturing scale, not ethics. Plenty of sub-$25 picks score above 80 because certification and transparency cost far less than premium materials do.

How are the price tiers decided?+

Each product carries a price band ($ to $$$$). A tier page includes every band that fits under the ceiling, so the under-$100 page also contains strong sub-$25 picks.

What's the cheapest way to shop more ethically?+

Start with things you rebuy — cleaning, personal care and pantry. Switching a repeat purchase compounds every month, while a one-off big purchase does not.

Do prices update automatically?+

Price bands and any tracked price history refresh on our regular data pass. Retailer prices can still move, so always confirm at checkout.
