Key features & specs

How it compares

Compared to simpler foldable solar panels, the Voltaic OffGrid integrates the battery and backpack so you can charge while walking. It competes with the FlexSolar panel kits and the Goal Zero Nomad series, but offers a more complete carry-and-charge solution.

What to know before buying

1. Consider the weight: the complete system weighs about 3.5 pounds, heavier than a standalone panel.
2. Check your device compatibility: the battery can fast-charge most phones and small tablets, but not laptops.
3. Assess your typical sun exposure: the solar panel works best in direct sunlight and charges the battery in 4-6 hours.
4. Look at the backpack capacity: 28 liters is ideal for day hikes or ultralight overnight trips.
5. Understand that you can also charge the battery via USB-C from a wall outlet for backup.

"I used the OffGrid backpack on a week-long hiking trip and my phone never died. The solar charging is consistent and the battery holds enough for two full charges." — Verified buyer

Sustainability & ethics

Voltaic Systems is a B Corp that uses recycled polyester for the backpack and recyclable packaging. The solar panel is made with ethically sourced silicon, and the company offsets its carbon emissions through certified projects.
