How it compares
Compared to the rabbitgoo escape-proof vest, the PetSafe harness uses a lighter mesh material that is more breathable for warm weather, but may not be as secure for cats that are extreme escape artists. The bungee leash sets it apart from standard leashes by reducing impact when the cat bolts, which the OutdoorBengal Houdini does not offer.
What to know before buying
- Measure your cat's chest girth accurately — this harness is sized for a snug fit.
- Introduce the harness indoors with positive reinforcement (treats, play).
- Use the bungee leash's shock-absorbing feature by holding the handle loosely at first.
- Check the fit regularly as cats can lose or gain weight.
- Hand wash the harness in cold water and air dry to maintain elasticity.
"This is the first harness my cat didn't hate. The step-in design is super easy, and the bungee leash gives us both a little wiggle room. Great for beginners!" — Verified buyer
Sustainability & ethics
The harness and leash are made from synthetic materials (nylon, polyester) that are not biodegradable. PetSafe does not provide detailed environmental policies, but the product's durability reduces replacement frequency. Packaging is partly recyclable but includes plastic clamshell components.
Pro tip
When using the bungee leash, avoid retractable leashes — they can cause injury. The bungee provides built-in give already, so a fixed-length leash is safer.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PetSafe Come With Me Kitty Harness truly escape-proof?
It is designed to resist pulling backward, but some cats with very narrow heads may still wiggle out if not fitted properly.
What size cat does the large fit?
The large fits cats with a chest girth of 14–19 inches and neck 9–13 inches, typically suitable for larger breeds like Maine Coons or chunky domestic shorthairs.
Is the leash long enough for walks?
The included bungee leash is 6 feet long, which is a standard length for controlled walks; it is not meant for long-ranging exploration.
Can I use this harness for a small dog?
Yes, the large size may fit small dogs with similar measurements, but it is primarily designed for cats.
How does it compare to the rabbitgoo harness?
The PetSafe harness is lighter and more breathable, and its bungee leash absorbs shocks, while the rabbitgoo vest is more padded and secure against escape.
