How it compares
Unlike mass-produced plastic letters or composite wood blocks, Uncle Goose uses solid, furniture-grade basswood. The carvings are deep and precise, which provides a tactile experience that flat-printed blocks lack. They are heavier and more stable for tall towers than foam blocks, and unlike plywood alternatives, they will not delaminate over time.
How to use it
- Start with simple stacking to help toddlers understand gravity and balance.
- Use the animal and letter carvings to play 'find the object' games for language development.
- Display them on a bookshelf when not in use to add a classic aesthetic to the room.
- Incorporate them into school-age math problems by using the blocks as physical counters.
"These are the same blocks I had as a child, and the quality hasn't changed a bit. They are beautiful and indestructible." — Verified buyer
Sustainability & ethics
Uncle Goose is committed to localized manufacturing, sourcing all their wood from sustainable growers within the Great Lakes region. By keeping production in Michigan, they maintain a low carbon footprint and ensure all labor practices meet strict U.S. standards. The inks used are vegetable-based and lead-free.
Pro tip
If the blocks get dirty, sand them lightly with fine-grit sandpaper rather than soaking them in water to preserve the wood grain.
