Key features & specs

How it compares

Compared to standalone puzzle books like The GCHQ Puzzle Book or Brain Games Clever Kids Collection, the Murdle series stands out for its narrative-driven, murder-mystery format that combines puzzle-solving with a story. While GCHQ focuses on logic problem-solving from a spy agency, Murdle immerses solvers in fictional crimes, making it more engaging for mystery fans. The 4-book set provides better value than buying single volumes.

What to know before buying

1. Check your puzzle style: Murdle puzzles are deductive logic puzzles; they require you to read clues and eliminate possibilities, not crossword-style vocabulary.
2. Consider the level: The set includes puzzles ranging from easy to medium, with some harder ones; it is suitable for beginners but engaging for experienced solvers.
3. Gift-ready packaging: The set comes in a sturdy box, making it a great physical gift without extra wrapping.
4. Screen-free fun: There are no digital elements; it is entirely paper-based, ideal for unplugged time.
5. Replayability: Once solved, puzzles can be revisited after a few months, but the primary value is the solve-once experience.
