Key features & specs

How it compares

The Maui Jute Sisal Rug stands out from synthetic polypropylene alternatives by offering superior breathability and a distinct organic feel. While softer than a stiff seagrass rug, it provides more structure than a flat-weave cotton rug, making it a middle-ground choice for comfort and longevity.

What to know before buying

1. Natural jute fibers have a characteristic earthy scent that dissipates within a week of unrolling.
2. Expect some initial shedding, which is a standard trait of handwoven jute rugs during the first month.
3. The thickness may require a low-profile door clearance if placed near entryways.
4. Avoid using a vacuum with a beater bar to prevent fraying the handwoven loops.
5. Natural color variations are common, ensuring that every individual rug is unique.

"The texture is exactly what I needed to ground my living room, and it has held up beautifully against my two dogs." — Verified buyer

Sustainability & ethics

Sourced from the Corchorus plant, the jute used in the nuLOOM collection is a rain-fed crop that requires little to no pesticides. The brand focuses on reducing chemical treatments, ensuring the rug remains biodegradable and safe for indoor air quality.
