Key features & specs

How it compares

Compared to plastic bath toys with hidden holes that trap moisture and grow mold, the haakaa Tidal Tribe set is fully sealed and made from silicone, eliminating mold risk entirely. It offers a more interactive experience than simple rubber ducks or foam shapes, especially with its waterfall pouring action. This set is also more durable than typical bamboo-based bath toys, which can splinter over time.

What to know before buying

1. Check age suitability: The set is recommended for 10+ months due to small parts (whale cup). Always supervise water play.
2. Cleaning is simple: Unlike plastic toys, silicone can be boiled or run through the dishwasher on the top rack to sanitize.
3. It floats: Each piece is designed to float, making it perfect for tubs, pools, or sensory bins.
4. No holes means no mold: The solid silicone construction has no hidden cavities where water can stagnate.
5. Consider the storage: There is no included storage bag; you may need a mesh bag or shelf for drying.

Frequently asked questions

Is the haakaa Tidal Tribe bath toy set worth the higher price?

Yes, the haakaa Tidal Tribe set is worth it for families who want a mold-free, long-lasting bath toy that is also safe for teething babies. The silicone construction lasts much longer than plastic alternatives.

Does this set work for babies under 12 months?

It is safe for babies 10 months and older under adult supervision, as the whale cup is a small piece. The cloud and leaf scoop are larger and great for younger infants.

How does haakaa compare to Munchkin or Green Toys bath toys?

haakaa uses food-grade silicone, which is more hygienic and durable than the plastics used by Munchkin or Green Toys. However, haakaa's set has fewer pieces, so if you want a larger variety, Munchkin offers more quantity at a lower price.

Can these toys be used in a pool or at the beach?

Yes, the silicone is waterproof and floats, making them suitable for pool, beach, or bathtub. Rinse with fresh water after saltwater use to prevent mineral buildup.

Will the silicone discolor over time?

Light-colored silicone may develop slight staining from bath products or hard water, but you can remove stains by boiling the pieces in water with a little baking soda once a month.
