Key features & specs

How it compares

The FIFINE AM8T sits as a mid-tier dynamic microphone, outperforming basic USB condenser mics (like the Blue Snowball) in noise rejection and vocal clarity. Compared to the RØDE PodMic, the AM8T is more affordable and includes a boom arm, though the PodMic has a slightly smoother frequency response and higher build quality. It competes directly with the Samson Q2U but offers a more modern, gaming-oriented design.

What to know before buying

1. This mic works both as a USB plug-and-play device and via XLR — you can start with USB and later upgrade to XLR with an interface.
2. The included scissor boom arm is sturdy for most desks but may feel light with heavier stands.
3. Use USB mode for immediate recording with no extra gear; XLR mode requires a phantom power source if your interface supports it (not required for dynamic mic, but check interface specs).
4. Place the mic 4–8 inches from your mouth for best results, speaking into the front grille.
5. Adjust the boom arm to keep the mic just out of your field of view to avoid visual obstruction.

"I bought this as my first XLR microphone set and it was a game changer. The sound is so much clearer than my old USB mic, and the boom arm plus shock mount saved me an extra $50. Perfect for streaming on a budget." — Verified buyer

Frequently asked questions

Does the FIFINE AM8T work with Xbox or PlayStation?

No, the AM8T is designed for PC, Mac, and devices with USB-A or USB-C ports; it does not have native console compatibility without additional adapters.

Is the FIFINE AM8T good for podcasting with two people?

This mic is best for solo use because of its cardioid pickup pattern; for two people, you would need a second mic and a mixer or audio interface.

How does the FIFINE AM8T compare to the Blue Yeti?

The Blue Yeti is a condenser mic that picks up more room noise, while the FIFINE AM8T is a dynamic mic that rejects background sound, making it better for untreated rooms.

Do you need an audio interface for the FIFINE AM8T?

No, you do not need an audio interface if you use the USB connection — it is plug-and-play; the XLR connection is for future upgrades to interface-based setups.

What's included in the FIFINE AM8T set?

The package includes the microphone, boom arm, shock mount, pop filter, USB-C cable, XLR cable, and table clamp — everything you need to start recording except a headset for monitoring.
