Key features & specs

How it compares

In the world of automated garden tools, the Tertill Weeding Robot is unique in its focus on small-scale weeding rather than lawn mowing. While traditional robotic mowers are designed for grass, this device is built specifically for soil-based garden beds. It serves as a sustainable alternative to plastic mulch or chemical sprays that can damage soil health.

How to use it

1. Ensure your garden bed is surrounded by a physical barrier at least 4 inches high.
2. Space your desired plants at least 12 inches apart to allow the robot to navigate.
3. Place the robot in a sunny area of the garden to allow the battery to charge.
4. Activate the device using the physical button or the smartphone application.
5. Install the included plant guards around small seedlings so the robot doesn't mistake them for weeds.
6. Leave the robot in the garden all season; it will wake up and work whenever the sun shines.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Tertill Weeding Robot worth it?

The Tertill Weeding Robot is worth it for those who value their time and wish to maintain 100% organic garden beds without chemicals. It pays for itself by replacing the need for mulch and herbicides over several seasons.

Does it work on all types of weeds?

Tertill works best on newly germinated weeds by scrubbing the soil surface and preventing them from maturing. It is highly effective at maintaining a weed-free environment but is not intended to clear an already overgrown field.

How does it distinguish between plants and weeds?

The robot uses height sensors to distinguish between established plants and short weeds. It assumes anything tall enough to touch its front sensor is a plant it should avoid, while anything short enough to pass under it is a weed to be trimmed.

How does the Tertill compare to weed killers?

Tertill offers a physical, solar-powered alternative to chemical weed killers that is safer for pets, children, and the environment. It prevents weed growth through daily maintenance rather than toxic intervention.
