Key features & specs

How it compares

When compared to heavy battery-powered mowers or traditional gas engines, the Sun Joe MJ401E offers superior weight savings and an infinite runtime, provided you stay within reach of a power outlet. It eliminates the "battery anxiety" common with cordless models and the mechanical complexity of internal combustion engines.

While it lacks the self-propulsion found in premium electric mowers, its 29-pound frame makes it significantly easier to navigate around flower beds and tight corners than most entry-level robotic or gas alternatives.

What to know before buying

1. Select a high-quality 14-gauge or 12-gauge outdoor-rated extension cord suitable for the distance of your yard.
2. Clear the lawn of large sticks, stones, or debris that could damage the steel blades.
3. Start mowing closest to the power outlet and move outward to keep the cord behind the path of the mower.
4. Adjust the wheel height manually to one of the three settings based on your grass type and season.
5. Empty the grass catcher frequently to maintain optimal airflow and suction.

"This mower is incredibly easy to assemble and light enough to carry with one hand; it makes maintaining my small front lawn a five-minute task without any fuss over gas or charging." — Verified buyer
