How it compares
When compared to vinegar-based solutions or oxygen-bleach powders, the RMR-86 Instant Mold & Mildew Stain Remover offers significantly faster visible results. While natural alternatives require hours of dwell time, RMR Brands has engineered this formula to dissolve the cellular structure of stains in under 30 seconds. It is more aggressive than standard daily shower sprays, making it a deep-cleaning treatment rather than a preventative maintenance tool.
How to use it
- Ensure the bathroom is well-ventilated by opening windows or turning on exhaust fans.
- Spray the formula directly onto the dry mold or mildew stains from a distance of 6-8 inches.
- Allow the product to sit for 15 to 30 seconds while the stain visibly disappears.
- Rinse the treated area thoroughly with water to remove any chemical residue.
- For deeply embedded stains in porous grout, a second application may be necessary.
The stains on my shower floor that I've been scrubbing for months literally vanished in seconds after one spray of this.

Sustainability & ethics
RMR Brands focuses on high-efficacy concentrates to reduce shipping volumes over time. While the formula is a potent chemical cleaner, the packaging is fully recyclable, and the company maintains strict vegan and cruelty-free standards, ensuring no animal testing or animal-derived ingredients are used in the production of RMR-86 Instant Mold & Mildew Stain Remover.
Pro tip
Always apply to a dry surface; water dilution on a wet wall can reduce the formula's ability to cling to the mold spores and dissolve the stain quickly.
