How it compares
The Nite Ize Steelie Orbit Vent Mount Kit differentiates itself from cheap plastic vent clips through its premium metal construction. While many competitors use weak magnets that allow phones to slide, the Orbit system utilizes a specialized ring magnet that is MagSafe compatible. Unlike adhesive dash mounts, this vent-based system leaves no permanent residue on the vehicle interior and can be removed in seconds.
How to use it
- Loosen the tension nut on the vent mount and slide the clip onto a sturdy vent blade.
- Tighten the nut until the mount is firmly attached and does not wobble.
- Attach the Orbit magnetic socket to the back of your phone or MagSafe case.
- Simply touch the phone to the Steelie ball to engage the magnetic hold.
- Adjust the tilt and rotation to your preferred viewing angle.

Sustainability & ethics
Nite Ize has made strides in 2026 by transitioning to FSC Certified packaging for the Steelie line. The use of durable cast aluminum instead of fragile plastics ensures a longer product lifespan, reducing electronic and accessory waste. No animal products are used in the pads or adhesives, making this a 100% vegan automotive accessory.
Pro tip
If your phone feels heavy, mount the clip on the lowest possible vent blade so the bottom of the mount rests against the dash for extra leverage.
