Key features & specs

How it compares

Compared to basic composition notebooks made from conventional paper, the Five Star Spiral Notebook + Study App offers a unique digital integration that boosts productivity. It competes with other recycled-paper notebooks like the Decomposition Book by Michael Roger, but adds a tech-forward edge with its app-based scanning. This notebook is a step above standard alternatives because it actively reduces paper waste through digitization, not just by using recycled materials.

What to know before buying

To get the most out of this recycled-paper notebook, follow these steps:

1. Download the Five Star Study App (free on iOS and Android) before you start writing.
2. Use a pen or pencil that won't bleed through the 100% recycled pages; fine-tip pens work best.
3. After taking notes, open the app and scan each page using your phone's camera—the QR code auto-aligns the image.
4. Organize scanned notes into folders by subject or date within the app for easy retrieval.
5. Share digitized notes via email or cloud services directly from the app.
6. Recycle the notebook cover and paper through standard curbside recycling when full; the spiral can be reused or trashed.

"I love that I can finally have a paper notebook that doesn't add clutter. Scanning to the app is seamless, and the recycled paper feels premium." — Verified buyer
