How it compares
In the competitive landscape of travel backpacks, the Cotopaxi Allpa 35L Travel Pack stands out due to its suitcase-style opening and burly TPU coating. Compared to traditional top-loading hiking packs, this provides significantly better access to your gear. When measured against hardshell rolling carry-ons, the Allpa offers superior mobility on uneven cobblestone streets while maintaining similar internal organization through its zippered mesh compartments.
What to know before buying
- Check the weight of your packed items, as the 35L capacity can become heavy when fully loaded without a wheeled frame.
- Utilize the included rain cover for extreme weather, even though the TPU coating is naturally highly water-resistant.
- Tuck the shoulder straps into the back panel when boarding planes to prevent snagging in overhead bins.
- Organize smaller electronics in the top zippered pocket for easy access during security screenings.
- Clean the exterior with a damp cloth rather than machine washing to preserve the waterproof coating.
"The organization inside the Cotopaxi Allpa 35L Travel Pack is a game changer for keeping my gear sorted without needing separate packing cubes." — Verified buyer
Sustainability & ethics
Cotopaxi ensures that the Allpa series is 100% vegan, utilizing synthetic materials that are both durable and animal-free. The brand focuses on fair labor and a transparent supply chain, being a certified B Corp that offsets carbon emissions and uses recycled materials for its pack fabric and webbing. The packaging is minimal and recyclable, reflecting their commitment to environmental stewardship.
Pro tip
Use the weight-distributing low-profile harness to transfer load to your hips, making long walks across international terminals significantly more comfortable.
