How it compares
Compared to the Chicco NextFit Zip and the Graco 4Ever DLX, the Marathon ClickTight is easier to install correctly. Many reviewers say the ClickTight mechanism reduces errors, but the seat does not convert to a booster like the 4Ever does.
What to know before buying
- Installation requires the seat belt, not LATCH, when using the ClickTight system—read the manual first.
- Check your car's seat belt length; some longer belts may need a locking clip.
- The seat is heavier than some competitors, but the installation simplicity offsets the weight for many parents.
- Britax recommends replacing the seat after any moderate or severe crash.
- Register the seat online to receive recall updates.
- Clean the cover by machine washing on gentle cycle and air drying.

Sustainability & ethics
Britax uses steel in the frame for durability and offers replacement covers to extend the product's life. Packaging is recyclable, and the company is working toward more recycled content. This product contains no animal-derived materials.
Pro tip
If you install forward-facing, use the top tether for maximum stability—Britax tethers are extra long and store neatly in the seat back.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Britax Marathon ClickTight worth the extra cost?
Yes, the ClickTight installation ensures a perfect fit every time, reducing the risk of incorrect installation—a major cause of injury in crashes.
Does this seat fit newborns well?
It fits newborns from 5 pounds, but lower anchors may not hold the seat as tightly in rear-facing mode with very light infants.
How does it compare to the Graco 4Ever?
The Marathon has easier installation but does not transition to a booster, so it lasts fewer years.
Can you use it on airplanes?
Yes, it is FAA approved for use on aircraft when installed with the seat belt.
What is the best way to clean the harness straps?
Wipe with a damp cloth—do not machine wash the straps, as that can weaken them.
Pros
- ✓ClickTight installation is the easiest system on the market, letting you tighten the belt by pushing down on the seat.
- ✓The steel frame and energy-absorbing foam provide excellent side-impact protection.
- ✓The no-rethread harness allows 10 positions to adjust as the child grows without removing the seat.
- ✓Machine-washable cover makes cleaning up spills and messes simple.
Cons
- ✗The seat does not convert to a booster, so you will need to buy a separate booster seat later.
- ✗At 20.5 pounds, it is heavy and awkward to transfer between vehicles.
