Key features & specs

How it compares

Unlike standard butane or propane stoves that require finite metal canisters, the BioLite CampStove 2+ utilizes free, renewable fuel found on the forest floor. While it is heavier than ultralight titanium alcohol stoves, the ability to generate electricity and the elimination of fuel costs provide a unique value proposition that justifies the extra weight for most hikers.

How to use it

1. Gather dry twigs or wood pellets and fill the combustion chamber.
2. Light the fire using a match or lighter through the top opening.
3. Select one of four fan speeds on the Smart LED Dashboard to control flame intensity.
4. Connect your device to the USB port to begin charging once the fire is established.
5. Add fuel gradually to maintain a smoke-free, efficient flame for cooking.

Frequently asked questions

Is the BioLite CampStove 2+ worth it?

The BioLite CampStove 2+ is worth the investment for those who spend significant time off-grid and want to reduce their reliance on disposable gas canisters. It provides both heat and power in one unit.

Does it work with wet wood?

While the fan helps combustion, using dry wood is essential for a smoke-free experience and maximum heat output. Moist wood will produce excessive smoke and lower power efficiency.

How does it compare to a solar charger?

Unlike solar panels, the stove generates power anytime you have a fire, regardless of time of day or weather conditions. It serves as a more reliable power source in heavily forested or cloudy environments.

Can I use pellets in this stove?

Yes, the BioLite CampStove 2+ works exceptionally well with hardwood heating pellets for a long, consistent burn. This is ideal for basecamp setups where constant refueling is inconvenient.
