Key features & specs

How it compares

Compared to the BowFlex SelectTech 552 or PowerBlock Elite EXP, the Northdeer V2.0 Upgraded Adjustable Steel Dumbbells 40LB offer a more affordable price point with a similar mechanical dial system. While heavier users may prefer the 90 lb PowerBlock option, the Northdeer set is a strong mid-range pick for everyday conditioning.

What to know before buying

1. Measure your storage space: each dumbbell sits upright on the included tray, requiring about 15 inches of depth.
2. Check the weight increments: the 5 lb jumps are fine for general strength, but smaller increments (e.g., 2.5 lb) would be better for progressive overload.
3. Ensure the handle grip feels comfortable in your hand; the rubberized coating is non-slip but may be too narrow for very large hands.
4. Read the included manual for the proper dial sequence to avoid jamming the mechanism.
5. Consider a silicone mat underneath to protect floors from potential plate scratches.

"These have been a game-changer for my home gym. The dial works smoothly, and the steel plates feel much sturdier than the cement dumbbells I used before." — Verified buyer
